We are Willem and Helen, the heart and soul behind Domaine La Bohème.
In 2008, we fell in love with the French countryside, since then we’ve been
living in the heart of Berry, sharing the peace, nature, and warmth of this
beautiful region with our guests.

Our dream was to create a place where people could relax, unwind, and
feel truly at home,  far from the busy pace of everyday life.

Our Story

In 2008 two very different paths brought us together.
Willem worked for many years as a builder, passionate about construction,
renovation, and craftsmanship, while Helen ran her own beauty salon and
training center, focused on well-being and relaxation.

What unites us? A love for simplicity, authenticity, and personal attention.

Making Our House a Home

When we discovered this old, abandoned farmhouse in 2022, we knew immediately it was meant to be our home.
What was once a neglected building has been lovingly restored stone by stone, plank by plank.

Willem brought his technical knowledge and eye for detail, while Helen created the warmth, harmony, and atmosphere that make La Bohème what it is today.

Two Personalities, One Passion

Those who get to know us quickly notice how we complement each other.
Willem loves to chat, helping out, and sharing tips about the region.
Helen is the quiet force of the house, ensuring peace, harmony, and delicious meals from the kitchen.

Together, we create a warm, welcoming atmosphere, where everyone feels at home, whether you’re passing through for a comfortable overnight stay or enjoying a longer, relaxing holiday in Le Berry.

La Bohème, Our Inspiration

The name La Bohème represents freedom, creativity, and harmony, values that are central to our life and our guesthouse.
Our logo is inspired by the sculpture The Duality by Dutch artist Bernadette Leijdekkers, symbolizing the connection between two different worlds.

Just like in the song by Charles Aznavour or Puccini’s famous opera, La Bohèmeis about love for life, simplicity, and authenticity.

Life in Le Berry

Situated in the heart of France, Le Berry is a paradise for hikers, cyclists, and nature lovers.
Its green hills, winding country roads, and charming villages offer the perfect setting to experience the real French countryside.

Even by car, there’s so much to explore: historic towns, castles, local markets, and vineyards are all within easy reach.

Whether you are passing through for a comfortable overnight stay or planning a long, peaceful holiday, Domaine La Bohème offers space, quiet, and personal attentionf or every guest.

Our Farm and Animal Friends

Our property is shared with our dog Sophie, our cat Luna, and our donkeys Coco and Nuage,  a lively and charming group that adds warmth and life to the house.

We love animals, but to preserve their tranquility, guest pets are welcome only by prior arrangement.
This ensures a peaceful and relaxing stay for everyone. 🐾
